You know what I hate.
Day Light Savings Time.
What is that ! Are we really saving any daylight or just fooling ourselves.
In 1895 a man named George Vernon Hudson proposed the idea of Daylight Savings Times so he could collect BUGS !
Do you collect bugs, I sure don't, so why should I care if the Sun is up till 4 pm or out till 6 pm.
Adding daylight to afternoons benefits retailing, sports, and other activities that exploit sunlight after working hours, but causes problems for farming, evening entertainment and other occupations tied to the sun.
You know what, I would surely like to eat more then I would want to go shopping for that new TV I wanted which I could easily pick up in the dark just as good as in the light.
Some say Safety is a factor in the benefits of Day Light Savings Time, in the United States a 1975 Study concluded a .7% reduction in Traffic accidents during Daylight Savings, but a 2009 U.S. study found that on Mondays after the switch to Day Light Savings Time, workers sleep an average of 40 minutes less, and are injured at work more often and more severely.
So at least they got to work without hurting themselves ! Late !
Fortune magazine estimated that a seven-week extension of Day Light Savings Time would yield an additional $30 million for 7-Eleven stores, and the National Golf Foundation estimated the extension would increase golf industry revenues $200 million to $300 million. But Day Light Savings Time also hurts prime-time broadcast ratings, drive-ins and other theaters.
I can pick up soda and cigarettes any time, I don't golf. I sure do miss the canceled TV programs, going to my neighborhood Drive-In that was shut down, and the Nickelodeon Movie Theater that went outta business when I was growing up.
That's why I like living in Arizona. I don't have to worry about if I am gonna be late for work because I set my clock forward or back, was it back, this saturday or next. The Sun comes up, the Sun goes down, I really don't need a clock to tell me that.
And that's why I hate Day Light Savings Time...
